Nunes asks for a review and the trial of the impeachment of the governor of RR is suspended again
The trial of the process that could lead to the impeachment of the governor of Roraima, Antonio Denarium (PP), and his deputy Edilson Damião (Republicans) was once again suspended at the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) after a request for review presented by minister Nunes Marques.
Previously, Minister André Mendonça voted for the impeachment, partially following the vote of the rapporteur, Minister Isabel Gallotti. The trial had restarted this Tuesday (11) after André Mendonça requested a view in August this year.

Antonio Denarium and Edilson Damião are accused of abuse of political power in the 2022 elections. They were revoked by the TRE-RR (Regional Electoral Court of Roraima) and appealed to the TSE.
The politicians’ accusation is related to the electoral use of two social food and housing programs, “Cesta da Família” and “Morar Melhor”. They are also responsible for transferring resources to municipalities during closed periods and distorting institutional advertising for personal promotion.
The governor’s defense denies irregularities in the programs and argues that the voluntary transfer of resources to the municipalities followed the law and was not electoral in nature.
In an opinion sent to the TSE in June 2024, the Electoral Attorney General’s Office defended the governor’s impeachment with the imposition of eight years of ineligibility. In the statement, the Public Ministry states that illegal acts were committed.
