Palestinians accuse Israeli settlers of burning and spray-painting the Mosque Al-Hajja Hamidin the city of Salfit, in the north of the occupied West Bank. The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates classified the attack as an act of “colonial terrorism”.

What happened

Photos show the interior of the mosque darkened by smoke and several burned examples. According to Deutsche Welleon the outer wall of the Mosque, there was graffiti in Hebrew with phrases such as “we are not afraid”, “we will take revenge again” and “continue condemning”.

Ministry says attack is “dangerous escalation” and part of Israel’s “systematic attacks” against Palestinians. The body held the Israeli government directly responsible, saying that the settlers’ impunity encourages new crimes and aims to displace and eliminate the Palestinian people, including in Jerusalem.
