Palestinian Oscar winner arrested by Israeli soldiers after being attacked
Palestinian documentary filmmaker Hamdan Ballal was attacked by Israeli settlers and then taken by Israeli army military personnel. It is not known where it was taken, or the reason for his arrest.
What happened
Documentary artist was attacked by Israelis. A group of between 10 and 20 “masked settlers” would have beaten the director in the village of Susiya, West Bank this afternoon. According to Israeli Yuval Abraham, who worked with Ballal while “injured and bleeding, soldiers entered the ambulance he had called and arrested him.” Since then, his colleagues and his family have no more news of his whereabouts.
Jewish-American activists witnessed the attack. To The Guardian newspaper, some center members for Jewish nonviolence said the settlers “began to throw stones at the Palestinians and destroyed a water tank near Hamdan’s house.” ” The settlers destroyed their car with stones and cut one of the tires. All windows and windshields were broken, “they said.
