Paraguay follows Argentina and will classify CV and PCC as terrorists
Paraguayan security forces work in coordination with Brazilian and Argentine agents. “The combination of police and military forces makes us invincible. The Paraguayan State will use all available force to protect citizens and guarantee the security of our democratic institutions,” said Interior Minister Enrique Riera.
Reinforcement in Argentina and Bolivia
Argentina and Bolivia also ordered greater border control with Brazil, as a reaction to the violence in Rio de Janeiro. The Milei government also announced that it will classify the PCC and CV as narco-terrorist organizations, an appeal made by Donald Trump’s government.
Brazilians will be examined, even those without any involvement with crime. “This maximum alert means observing very carefully all Brazilians who come to Argentina, checking whether or not they have a prior record, but without confusing tourists with members of the Red Command”, said the Minister of National Security, Patricia Bullrich.
In Bolivia, the elected president, Rodrigo Paz, accused the current president, Luis Arce. “All control and security measures necessary to prevent members of criminal organizations from Brazil from entering national territory, as a result of the serious acts of violence that recently occurred in Rio de Janeiro,” he wrote in a letter.
Megaoperation leaves 121 dead
Operation Containment, launched by Rio police on Tuesday, ended with 121 deaths. More than half of the bodies have already been identified.
