PEC against 6 × 1 scale is filed in the chamber with 234 signatures

The proposal of amendment to the Constitution (PEC) that ends the six-day work scale for one off (6 × 1) was filed in the House of Representatives on Tuesday (25), with 234 signatures. There were 63 more signatures than necessary to enter a constitutional amendment proposal.

PEC establishes a four -day work week. Federal Deputy Erika Hilton (PSOL-RJ), who leads the articulation by PEC in the house, said it was months of conversations with parliamentarians and mobilizations to reach this time to register the proposal in the House.

In a press conference on Tuesday, the deputy said that this scale is considered obsolete.

She assured that PEC has the support of several parties, including center and right. “This dismantles the idea that only the left is striving in this discussion. I think the only ones who are not committed to this debate is the extreme right. ” She said that the proposal had received the signing of two PL deputies, but, by party guidance, the support was withdrawn.

PEC amends item XII of article 7 of the Brazilian Constitution, which would be effective with the following writing: “Normal work duration not exceeding eight hours a day and thirty -six hours per week, with a working day of four days a week, Once the compensation of schedules and the reduction of journey, by agreement or collective bargaining agreement ”.

The debate for reducing the workday has been gaining strength from the Life Movement beyond work (VAT), founded by Rio de Janeiro councilman Rick Azevedo (PSOL), which has mobilized manifestations and acts by the end of the 6 × 1 scale.

“The market cries the ‘lack of labor’, but does not want to admit the obvious: the people have tired of being a load dumb. The 6 × 1 scale destroys health, steals life time and pays badly. No one wants to get sick to enrich boss, ”Azevedo said on a social network.

For a PEC to be approved in the House, the votes of at least 308 of the 513 deputies and deputies, in two voting shifts, are required. The measure has divided opinions, both in the employer and union.

For critics, the measure would lead to the increase in the operating costs of companies, according to the employer National Confederation of Trade in Goods, Services and Tourism (CNC).

At today’s conference, Deputy Guilherme Boulos (PSOL-SP) said he will ask for government support to get the necessary votes to approve PEC in Congress. The government leader in the House, Deputy José Guimarães (PT-CE) assured that he will strive in the articulations inside and outside the plenary to approve the proposal.

Other proposals

At least two other PECS deal with the reduction of journey in the National Congress, but do not end the 6th by 1 journey, which is Vat’s main demand.

Presented in 2019 by Deputy Reginaldo Lopes (PT-MG), PEC 221/2019 proposes a reduction, within ten years, of 44 hours per week for 36 hours of work without salary reduction.
