Better direction;

Better production;

Best script.

The 41st edition of the IDA Documentary Awards, which will take place on December 6, in Los Angeles, also includes “The Tale of Silyan”, by National Geographic. More than 550 films were evaluated, from 85 countries, for the biggest award in the documentary sector.

In The Hollywood Reporter, Petra Costa appears as one of the favorites for an Oscar nomination in the Best Documentary category. In 2020, she already competed with “Democracia em Vertigem”.

The award ceremony takes place at a time when Jair Bolsonaro is convicted and when Silas Malafaia, the protagonist of the documentary, is the target of investigations. The film, which was produced by Brad Pitt’s company, portrays the political advancement of evangelicals, arriving at a time in the USA when the group described by Petra Costa is already in power, transforming laws, realities and destinies.
