PGR calls for conviction of nine black kids defendants for the coup plot

The Attorney General’s Office (PGR) asked the Supreme Court (STF) the conviction of nine of the ten members of the coup plot, made up of special forces military-the so-called “black kids”. The request was made with the presentation by the Attorney’s Office of the so -called final allegations in the process.

In presenting the final allegations, the Attorney General of the Republic, Paulo Gonet, asked that one of the accused, Ronald Ferreira de Araújo Junior, Army Lieutenant Colonel accused of participating in discussions on a scamming draft, has the “reclassified” conduct.

Gonet asked his conduct to be framed as incitement to the crime, since, unlike the other accused, no elements were gathered that prove the defendant’s connection with the criminal organization.

Core members are pointed out as responsible for the operational planning of the coup, including the “green and yellow dagger” plan, which provided for attacks against authorities.

The Bernardo Correa Netto group, colonel arrested in Operation Tempus Veritatis, of the Federal Police; Estevam Theophilo, reserve general and former chief of the Coter (Army Terrestrial Command); Fabrício Moreira de Bastos, army colonel and allegedly involved with a scammer letter; Hélio Ferreira Lima, Army Lieutenant Colonel and member of the “Kids Black” group; Márcio Nunes de Resende Júnior, Army Colonel.

In addition, they are part of the Nucleus Rafael Martins de Oliveira, Lieutenant Colonel and member of the group “Kids Pretos”; Rodrigo Bezerra de Azevedo, Lieutenant Colonel of the Army and member of the group “Kids Black”; Ronald Ferreira de Araújo Junior, Army Lieutenant Colonel accused of participating in discussions about a coup draft; Sérgio Ricardo Cavaliere de Medeiros, Lieutenant Colonel and Wladimir Matos Soares, agent of the Federal Police.

In presenting the arguments, Gonet pointed out that, in addition to acting to convince the Army’s high echelon to join the coup plan, the group also monitored and planned attacks on authorities.

“Thanks to the defendants’ action, the Army’s high command was severely pressured to finish the coup, public authorities were in the sights of violent actions and land forces were made available to criminal intentions,” said the PGR.

According to him, the facts dealt with in the complaint indicate that those involved converged, within their space, to ensure placement of the undemocratic operation plan and documented almost all phases of the contract.

“The criminal organization has documented almost all of the actions narrated in the complaint, through recordings, manuscripts, digital files, spreadsheets and electronic messages, making criminal materiality even more noticeable,” he said.

The document also points out that it was proved that the defendants formed the nucleus of tactical and coercive actions of the criminal organization, “being responsible for the most severe and violent actions of the group, which did not ultimately ultimately the institutional rupture for the strong resistance of army and aeronautics commands.”

Reclassified conduct

In discussing the conduct of each of the core members, Gonet points out that, unlike the other accused, “no additional elements were gathered on the defendant’s in -depth link with the criminal organization. According to the evidence produced in the case file, Ronald Ferreira was not present at the meeting held on 28.11.2022, nor followed the subsequent steps of the group”.

The PGR also points out that “in the case of the accused Ronald, however, the evidence previously produced led” only “to the punctual practice of incitement conduct, and it was not possible to differentiate it from the other military who signed and shared the letter.”

Therefore, Gonet understood that the “disqualification” of the military conduct, to fit her as an incitement to the crime, in the form equated by the animosity of the Armed Forces against constitutional powers.
