PGR calls for research on Bolsonaro investigation by vaccine card fraud

The Attorney General, Paulo Gonet, asked the Supreme Court (STF), on Wednesday (27), the filing of the investigation against former President Jair Bolsonaro in the case involving the insertion of false covid-19 vaccination data in the Ministry of Health system.

The final decision on the filing will be up to the Supreme Court.

According to the Attorney General’s Office (PGR), although the former orders of orders Mauro Cid claimed in award-winning denunciation that he acted under Bolsonaro’s orders, the prosecution was not supported by other evidence, as required by Brazilian law.

Gonet pointed out that the law prohibits complaints based exclusively on statements from employees, and this information must be corroborated by independent evidence.

The investigation found that, on December 21, 2022, false data on the immunization of Bolsonaro and his minor daughter was inserted into the Ministry of Health system.

However, the information was excluded a few days later on December 27, 2022, and there is no evidence that certificates were used.

According to Gonet, the absence of minimum support makes a criminal charge unfeasible against the former president.

The PGR demonstration reinforces that the crime imputed to Bolsonaro, of insertion of false data into a public system, requires autonomous evidence beyond the whistleblower’s word.

“Only the employee stated that the president had determined to hold the act,” Gonet wrote, noting that the case law of the Supreme Court requires additional evidence to support a complaint.

The filing request occurs amid other cases involving the former president, who was recently made a defendant for attempted coup.
