PGR presents in this 2nd the final allegations against Bolsonaro for attempted coup
The Attorney General’s Office (PGR) is expected to submit on Monday (14) to the Federal Supreme Court (STF) its final allegations in the criminal case that accuses former President Jair Bolsonaro and seven allies for involvement in an attempted coup in 2022.
The document is the last stage of the process for the prosecution to manifest formally by the conviction or acquittal of the accused. With this, the process enters the final stretch before being tried by the first class of the Supreme Court, still being scheduled.

In addition to Jair Bolsonaro, they are part of the so -called “coup attempt core” the following names:
• Alexandre Ramagem (former director of Abin)
• Almir Garnier (former Navy Commander)
• Anderson Torres (former Minister of Justice)
• Augusto Heleno (former GSI minister)
• Mauro Cid (former Presidency Orders)
• Paulo Sérgio Nogueira (former Minister of Defense)
• Walter Braga Netto (former Minister of the Civil House)
They respond for five crimes provided for in the Penal Code:
• attempted violent abolition of the democratic rule of law
• Attempted coup d’état
• Participation in armed criminal organization
• Qualified damage
• Deterioration of overturned assets
What are the final allegations
The final allegations are a procedural stage in which prosecution and defense present, in writing, their final arguments based on the evidence produced throughout the process. The PGR opens the round of demonstrations, followed by the defense of Mauro Cid – which has award -winning collaboration agreement – and then, by other accused, with a common deadline.
The deadline for each step is 15 calendar days. As there is arrested defendant (Braga Netto), the deadlines even run during the recess of the judiciary, which runs from July 2 to 31.
What happens after
With the conclusion of the presentation of the final allegations, the process will be able to be taken to trial in the first class of the Supreme Court, composed of five ministers. The board will decide, by majority, if the defendants will be acquitted or convicted. The analysis is individualized for each accused.
The possibilities are:
• Absolution: If the ministers understand that there is not enough evidence or that the accused have not committed the crimes. In this case, the process is filed.
• Condemnation: If there is a majority for guilt, the Supreme Court will calculate the penalties individually.
Both PGR and defenses may appeal the decision to the Supreme itself.
