PL says that occupation of the plenary of the Chamber was ‘peaceful and legitimate’ character
Liberal Party President Valdemar Costa Neto published on Saturday morning, 9, a note defending the 11 party parliamentarians who were targeted by representations sent by the mayor, Hugo Motta (Republicans-PB). According to the party leader, the occupation of the Plenary of the House, for more than 30 hours, was “peaceful and legitimate” character.
“It is important to clarify that demonstrations held in the plenary had peaceful and legitimate character, with the objective of rescuing the discussion and vote of the amnesty agenda, as well as reinforcing the defense of autonomy between powers,” said the president of the PL in a statement.
The party also stated that parliamentarians were representing “millions of Brazilians” who support amnesty to the condemned by the scammer acts of January 8. “We trust due process of law and the competent instances to recognize the legitimacy of their actions,” says the statement.
The Parliamentary Corregedoria of the House will evaluate cases against deputies who have been amottered in order to prevent the work of the plenary. Estadão has shown that Motta should indicate punishments between warnings and suspension of terms for up to six months.
The General Secretariat of the Bureau decided to forward all representations for analysis of the parliamentary corregedor, Diego Colonel (PSD-BA). Colonel will meet with Motta on Monday, 11.
