Protestor shot in an anti-rump protest dies in Utah
The corporation added that the man who carried the AR-15, identified as Arturo Gamboa, was “arrested and imprisoned accused of murder,” although the accusations are still preliminary and need to be confirmed by the prosecution.
Salt Lake City police chief Brian Redd said at a news conference that Gamboa did not fire his gun.
The man who attacked Gamboa wore a high visibility vest and was apparently affiliated with protest organizers. He was not accused and is cooperating with police, Redd said.
Gamboa had no criminal record, according to the police chief, who said investigators are still in the early stages of the investigation to determine their possible reasons.
The United States is going through a period of intense political polarization, especially since the Electoral victory of the Republican Trump last year.
The shots during Saturday protest caused panic among the crowd in Salt Lake City and occurred a few hours after a state of Minnesota was murdered at home in a crime that apparently had political motivation.
