Randolfe Rodrigues: PEC, PLP and PL of the tax package must be voted on this year
The government leader in Congress, Randolfe Rodrigues (PT-AP), stated that he is working with a schedule for approving the fiscal package projects later this year. The statement was made to journalists this Monday, 16th, in the Senate, after a meeting with the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, and the leader of the government in the Senate, Jaques Wagner (PT-BA).
“Everything has to be voted on this year, everything: the PEC, the PLP and the PL have to be voted on,” he said. “My agenda, which I am working on, which we are planning, is the vote on these issues in the Chamber by Wednesday, and Congress has to stay working as long as it needs to stay working.”
Randolfe also stated that the joint sessions of the National Congress, scheduled for Wednesday, the 18th, and Thursday, the 19th, could be postponed until Friday, the 20th. In these sessions, the 2025 budget matters are planned.

“There is no point in approving a budget law without approving spending containment, because spending containment is an outfit that has to fit the outfit. The model is the budget”, he stated.
He then said that he considers his schedule to go beyond Friday the 20th: “I am working with the schedule that we will work here until Friday, if necessary, even after Friday, but that we will end the year by voting on the necessary measures”.
Military pensions are ongoing
Randolfe stated that the project for changes to military pensions could be sent to the Legislature this week. “It’s ongoing,” Randolfe said of the project.
Randolfe added: “I don’t know if it will be precise today, but I believe that by tomorrow (Tuesday, 17th) the expectation is that we can also have this topic for consideration”.
According to the senator, “it is a discussion that may take time”. According to him, the fiscal package is not limited to the three measures being analyzed in Congress. “Other (measures) will come. In relation to the military, it is one of those”, he said.
The leader also stated that Haddad said he was available in Brasília to participate in the negotiations for the approval of the tax package.
“Minister Haddad made himself available for any necessary dialogue, with any leadership of the National Congress, to resolve the consideration of the spending package,” said Randolfe.
