Randolfe Rodrigues supports increasing Betts taxation and debate about CSLL: “It’s reasonable”

Government leader in Congress, Randolfe Rodrigues (PT-AP), defended on Wednesday, 11, the increase in the taxation of BETs as one of the alternatives to have a lower lower tax on financial operations (IOF).

“It is reasonable to increase taxation on the Bets, which has even brought to Brazilians a very serious epidemic. This type of activity has to be taxed in selective tax, as well as cigarettes, drinks, because they are harmful to health. More than some tax adjustment, it is an adjustment of justice and health protection,” Randolfe said in the Senate.

According to the senator, the provisional measure is in the final adjustment phase. One of the government’s proposals is to increase from 12% to 18% the taxation of bookmakers.

“Banks have had profits”

Randolfe also defended the increase in social contribution on net income (CSLL) as a way to relieve the increase in the tax on financial operations (IOF).

“It is not fair for Brazilians to have a 26% tax and we have a lower taxation of CSLL for large financial institutions,” Randolfe said in the Senate.

According to him, it is necessary that the highest classes contribute more. “Our banks have had constant profit records. It is reasonable to present a proposal that improves taxation. We have a condominium in Brazil. We propose that upstairs pay a little more to support this condominium,” he said.

The increase in CSLL is one of the measures proposed by the government as an alternative to IOF increase. Also part of the intended package is increased BETS taxation and a cut in tax benefits.
