“Reciprocal is true”: Haddad sees how “great” talks about Trump about dialogue with Lula
Finance Minister Fernando Haddad considered the statement given by the president of the United States, Donald Trump, that President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva can talk to him “when he wants”.
“I think it’s great, right? And the reciprocal I’m sure it’s true, too. President Lula would be willing to receive a call from him when he wanted to too,” said the minister.
Haddad stated that this opening is an important sign and announced that he is organizing a meeting with US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, scheduled for next week.

“Finally we will have a longer and more focused meeting in the unilateral decision of the United States, compared to Brazil,” said Haddad.
The minister stressed that this conversation can prepare the way for a possible meeting between Lula and Trump.
According to Reuters, there is still no marked conversation between the presidents or ongoing negotiation and that will depend on Lula’s will or not to begin this regard.
In addition to the economic topics, Haddad indicated that the application of Magnitsky Law to the Supreme Court Minister, Alexandre de Moraes, could be addressed during the negotiations.
“It is worth a conversation with Bessent before, so that we clarify, above all, with the secretary, how the Brazilian judiciary works,” said the minister.
