Released by doctors, Lula commands “light” ministerial meeting in Alvorada
The president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) arrived in Brasília (DF) on Thursday (19), after being released by doctors at Hospital Sírio-Libanês, in São Paulo (SP).
The PT member’s first official commitment after hospitalization will be the ministerial meeting scheduled for the beginning of the afternoon, starting at 1 pm.
The event was formatted to be less stressful than a normal ministerial meeting. It will be at the Palácio da Alvorada, and not at the Palácio do Planalto, as is normally the case.

The president’s allies are skeptical about the possibility of the Chief Executive actually slowing down his activities. The PT member returned to the federal capital after spending ten days in São Paulo treating an intracranial bleed.
Lula arrives at Palácio da Alvorada after days recovering in São Paulo
Lula stayed in São Paulo after being discharged from hospital until this Thursday to have closer monitoring with doctors. He underwent a CT scan in the morning and then went to Brasília
Lula was hospitalized from the night of the 9th until last Sunday, the 15th. When he was discharged from Sírio-Libanês, he said he could work normally, but that he would have to “stay at least 60 days calm”. He will not be able, for example, to travel internationally.
Several of the president’s allies privately said they had doubts about the PT member’s ability to slow down his routine. The assessment is that Lula, now 79 years old, is naturally agitated. He likes to closely follow the work of the main ministries and the government programs that are most important to him, including participation in public events.
One factor that could weigh in favor of easing the PT member’s routine is First Lady Rosângela Lula da Silva, known as Janja. She often advises him to take better care of his health. He is one of the people the president listens to most. Furthermore, the PT member’s first statements after the incident show that the case left him scared.
