Rueda criticizes “fictitious” budget of the government and defends state efficiency

The President of the Progressive Union, Antonio Rueda, said on Friday (25), during the Expert XP 2025that the recent dispute between the federal government and the National Congress on the increase in IOF revealed a deeper structural problem: the lack of commitment to a realistic budget.

“The budget piece, as sent, was a fiction. It was not a real piece. All politics and the market knew it was not feasible,” he said. “And when we have no responsibility, clashes like this happen.”

IOF, High Selic and Threat of Taxation are part of the “Brazil Scenario”, says Kinea CEO

For Marcio Verri, CEO and one of the founders of Kinea, the challenges faced this year are also opportunities, and managers need to be prepared to adapt

For Rueda, the focus of the fiscal debate should not only be collecting, but centered on the search for the efficiency of the public machine. “It is no use going to a collection agenda, because it will never be enough. We have to bring efficiency to the state, to the government, we have to cut in the meat with the legislature, with the judiciary, to have a more balanced country.”

In another moment of speech, Rueda showed concern about the tone adopted by members of the executive and the judiciary in relation to the financial market, in a context of growing institutional tension.

“Today, I am very concerned about this tone that the executive and the judiciary are adopting, talking about the people, the rich, and here all, about the financial market. This tone is very bad,” he said. “We know that for a country to prosper, he has to have a strong economy.”

He also defended a repositioning of public debate, with less polarization and more focus on concrete proposals for the country: “We have to lower this temperature, get out of the extremes and this polarization. Discuss what is important to Brazil.”
