Russian attack leaves at least 1 dead and 40,000 without power in Ukraine
Significant material damage was also recorded. A residential building in the city center was completely destroyed and many others were seriously damaged, according to the region’s governor, Oleh Kiper.
According to him, energy infrastructure was affected, including a heating pipe, and 40,000 people were left without electricity this Friday (15). Public buildings such as schools and hospitals were also affected, including a maternity ward where around 30 women were giving birth at the time of the attack.
The Ukrainian air force said it destroyed 25 of 29 drones fired by Russian forces overnight on Tuesday, as well as a Kh-59/69 guided missile.
Winter will be difficult
Although the situation is under control this morning, according to the governor, this shows the vulnerability of the port city, which is regularly attacked by drones and missiles. Just a few days ago, a similar attack also damaged the city’s energy infrastructure.
Across the country, Russia’s attacks have already destroyed or seriously damaged nearly two-thirds of infrastructure, and millions of people are living under the constant threat of power cuts.
