Senate approves PL of reciprocity for 70 votes in the plenary, unanimously
With 70 votes favorable and no contrary, the Federal Senate approved, on Tuesday (1st), the “PL of Reciprocity”, a bill that establishes criteria for Brazil to respond to “unilateral measures” adopted by countries or economic blocks that affect the country’s international competitiveness.
The matter had already been approved earlier by the Senate Economic Affairs Commission (CAE), in a terminative basis, that is, without the need for the text to be for the analysis of the plenary. However, the government leader in Congress, Randolfe Rodrigues (PT-AP), considered “good tone” that the appreciation was not restricted to the board.
The matter then goes to the House of Representatives. In the expectation of Randolfe, the ideal is for deputies to approve the text until Wednesday, 2, as a gesture of response to the “tariff” of US President Donald Trump to be announced on the date.

Senate President David Alcolumbre (Union-AP) said that the matter is “fundamental” for the Brazilian Parliament to show haughtiness in the face of other countries. Rapporteur Tereza Cristina (PP-MS) stressed that this is not retaliation to a single country, but an alternative for Brazil to respond to any excesses against its market.
