Senate CCJ schedules hearing to authorize Gonet’s reappointment on November 12
The Constitution and Justice Committee (CCJ) of the Senate scheduled Paulo Gonet’s hearing for the 12th of November as head of the Attorney General’s Office (PGR). President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva reappointed him to the position in August.
According to the rite, even though he is kept in the position for another term, Gonet will have to go through all the phases that occurred when he assumed the role. The CCJ will hold a hearing and, subsequently, the plenary will give final approval for the reappointment.

As attorney general, Gonet was responsible, among other things, for presenting the complaint to the Federal Supreme Court (STF) of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and 36 others for attempted coup d’état. He also presented the PGR’s final allegation.
In the first nomination, Gonet had 23 votes in favor and 4 against in the CCJ and, in the plenary, 65 votes yes and 11 votes no. He replaced Augusto Aras in the role.
