Voting impeachment of STF ministers in the Senate would only cause problems, says Alcolumbre

Senate President David Alcolumbre (Union-AP), after meeting with home leaders, decided to hold a deliberative session on Thursday (7) in a remote system, temporarily.

In a statement, Alcolumbre stated that the decision “aims to ensure the operation of the house and prevent the legislative agenda, which belongs to the Brazilian people, is paralyzed”.

“I will not accept intimidation or attempts to embarrass the presidency of the Senate. Parliament will not be hostage to actions aimed at destabilizing its operation,” he said.

Senator Cid Gomes (PSB-CE) said the president assured that next week the sessions will be held normally in the plenary.

According to Gomes, Alcolumbre also ruled out accepting any impeachment request against Supreme Court Minister Alexandre de Moraes, as this is a prerogative of the president of the Senate.

On the agenda of tomorrow’s session, is the project that ensures the exemption of income tax for those who receive up to two minimum wages.
