Servers leave IBGE after change in command of the area responsible for GDP, says newspaper
A sequence of requests for dismissal from IBGE leadership positions raised the level of internal tension in the body after the dismissal of researcher Rebeca Palis from coordinating national accounts. The investigation is from the newspaper Folha de S.Paulo.
According to the newspaper, at least three managers handed over their duties in the days following the decision, taken on January 19 by the institute’s management. Internally, the reading is that the departures function as a sign of support for the former coordinator, responsible for one of the most sensitive areas of the IBGE: that which produces the Gross Domestic Product statistics.
Master case leads Lula to talk about Toffoli’s possible departure from the STF, says newspaper
According to Folha de S.Paulo, assistants report that Lula sees wear and tear on the STF and the government and assesses the political impact of the suspicions involving Banco Master and Toffoli’s family
The first move came from Cristiano Martins, who headed the goods and services management and acted as Rebeca’s immediate replacement. Subsequently, Claudia Dionísio, in charge of quarterly national accounts, and Amanda Tavares, deputy manager of the area, also left their positions. The decisions were made public this Monday (26).
Opportunity with security!
The moment is considered critical within the institute. The release of GDP for the fourth quarter and the end of 2025 is scheduled for March 3, which reduces the scope for internal reorganization.
The change in command of national accounts reactivated a conflict that has been going on since 2024, when technicians and the category’s union began to question decisions made by the management of IBGE president, Marcio Pochmann. During that period, public letters criticized what was described as the centralized and politicized management of the institute. Rebeca Palis was among the signatories of these documents.
