SP subway people accept proposal and discard strike after readjustment of 5.01%

São Paulo subways decided, by large majority, to accept the proposal presented by the State Government and suspended the strike that was scheduled to start next Tuesday (27). The decision was made after an online vote closed on Thursday night (22), with the participation of 2,774 workers.
Of the total, 79.16% voted in favor of the agreement, while 18.71% rejected the proposal and 2.13% abstained. The main point of the agreement is a salary adjustment of 5.01%, 4.1% being paid immediately and 1% for the cost of the health insurance, avoiding an increase in tuition.

In addition to the readjustment, the agreement provides:

- Concession of salary allowance;
- End of the annual expert medical report requirement;
With the discarded stoppage, the focus of the category now turns to the resistance to the subway privatization plan, defended by the state government. “Facing the outsourcing of maintenance and the career plan are the concrete battles of this immediate moment of the struggle against privatization,” said the Metrovaries Union.
On Wednesday (21), the category also held an assembly and launched a new space for political and union organization at the headquarters of the Union of Metroviaries, in the neighborhood of Belém, east of São Paulo.
