Controversy from the ‘El Chiringuito’ program

“El Chiringuito” is one of the most popular and most controversial sports programs on Spanish TV. Presented by Josep Pedrerol, it will air Sunday to Thursday by Mega.

Known for his heated tone, the debate brings together fixed and guest journalists. The shouting, provocations and bar discussions became a trademark of the attraction.

The program gained international prominence in 2022 when it became the scene of a racist attack on Vinicius Júnior. During the debate, businessman Pedro Bravo stated that the player should stop “Hacer El Mono”, an expression that in Portuguese means “making macaquice”. The statement reverberated around the world and placed El Chiringuito under intense pressure.

Also, there is no shortage of controversial episodes. In 2017, Alfredo Duro caused Barcelona fans after defeat to PSG at Champions. The mockery became a meme, but days later it was the one who had to deal with Barça’s historic turn 6-1.
