STF has already sentenced 310 people for attacks on January 8th in Praça dos Três Poderes
The Federal Supreme Court (STF) has already sentenced 310 people accused of involvement in the violent acts of January 8, 2023. The number was released by the Attorney General’s Office (PGR), the body responsible for the accusations, this Tuesday (3) .
According to the prosecutor’s office, two years after the acts, 229 were condemned as carrying out the acts and 81 as inciters.
The sentences of the executors vary between 15 years and 17 years in prison, for crimes of armed criminal association, qualified damage, deterioration of listed property, violent abolition of the Democratic Rule of Law and attempted coup d’état.

In the case of those accused of inciting acts, the sentences are 1 year in prison, but were replaced by the provision of community service and attendance at a course on democracy.
The convicts also have their passports withheld, gun possession revoked and must pay, jointly, the amount of R$5 million for collective moral damages.
The PGR survey also shows that 500 defendants signed a non-criminal prosecution agreement and their cases were closed.
The agreement allows defendants who did not directly participate in the acts of depredation of Congress, the Palácio do Planalto and the Supreme Court to confess to the crimes in exchange for measures other than imprisonment.
