Super typhoon makes landfall in the Philippines with winds of 185 km/h; 2 people died
The typhoon has a radius that covers almost the entire Philippine territory. It touched down in the province of Aurora, on the main island of Luzon, at 9:10 pm (10:10 am Brasília), the state weather service said.
One person drowned in Catanduanes, an island in the east of the country. The other death was a woman who was trapped in the rubble of a house that collapsed in the town of Catbalogan, further south.
More than a million people were forced to leave their homes. A few days earlier, another typhoon had already devastated the country.
Schools and public buildings will remain closed tomorrow across much of the country, including in the capital Manila. Almost 300 flights have already been cancelled, according to authorities.
