Law was passed during war. In 1798, the US were on the brink of France and the Federalist Party feared that the “foreigners” living in the country would sympathize with the French.
As a result, Congress, controlled by the federalists, approved a series of laws against immigrants for times of war. Among them is the Law of Foreign Enemies.
Immigrant deported by mistake
Earlier, Donald Trump got another victory in the Supreme Court. Court President John Roberts complied with the government’s request and suspended the Order of Return of Legal Immigrant Vugo Garcia to the US, deported to El Salvador by mistake.
Magistrate established the period of 17h on Tuesday (8) for the defense of the immigrant to position himself, according to the site Axios. The government argued that Judge Paula Xinis improperly interfered with the president’s foreign policy powers.
The judge had determined that Garcia’s return to happen to this day. Magistrate classified deportation as an illegal act and pressured Erez Reuveno, a lawyer from the Department of Justice, for answers.
