TCU files request for investigation into use of Vorcaro jet by Nikolas Ferreira

The episode involving campaign trips by federal deputy Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG) on a jet linked to banker Daniel Vorcaro, owner of Banco Master, will not be investigated by the Federal Audit Court (TCU). The Court of Auditors decided, this Sunday (03), to archive the representation that requested the investigation of the case and stated that any irregularities must be examined by the Electoral Court, as it is a movement related to the 2022 elections.

The representation had been presented by the deputy attorney general of the Public Ministry at the TCU (MPTCU), Lucas Furtado, to investigate the origin and legality of the resources used to pay for the parliamentarian’s travel on an executive aircraft during the second round of the 2022 electoral dispute.

In the ruling, the ministers state that they did not identify minimum elements that indicate the use of federal funds, a necessary condition for the TCU to act in the case.

By ruling out its own jurisdiction, the TCU emphasized that the facts described fit into the context of campaign financing for 2022. The technical-accounting analysis of these expenses and the judgment of the electoral accounts are typical responsibilities of the Electoral Court.

Although it has concluded the internal analysis, the TCU decided to forward the case to the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) and the Public Electoral Ministry (MPE), so that the bodies can assess whether there is a need to adopt new measures.

Nikolas’ version

The case of the use of Daniel Vorcaro’s jet by Nikolas Ferreira came to light in March, following press reports. The deputy says that, at the time of the flights, he was unaware that the aircraft was linked to the owner of Banco Master and that he only found out later, through a report from pastor André Valadão, who traveled with him.
