Teacher seeks mother and 4 relatives taken by the flood in Texas
A teacher of the teacher, Devyn Smith, 22, was found alive after being dragged for over 24 kilometers in Rio. The rescue team found Smith in a tree branch.
The woman suffered scratches and injured and is hospitalized. According to the newspaper, Smith told Chavaria that drizzled when his family went to sleep at Camp on the night of last Thursday. The group woke up around 4 am in the morning with the rain.
The mother, aunt, stepfather, and a cousin of Chavaria climbed into a pickup truck when the river water overflowed. The rescuers found the car listed and collided with a broken tree.
Other family members of Chavaria, including her father, went to Kerr County, where Kerrville gets to help with the search. They took chainsaws and axes to cut trees and wreckage where relatives were seen.
Until the early morning of Monday (7), at least 82 people had died in Texas. Of the total, 28 were children.
Texas governor Greg Abbott said there were 41 missing people. Abbott warned that these are people whose disappearance has been confirmed and the list can be much greater.
