Total war in the Middle East ‘must be avoided’, says Biden
Conflicts in the Middle East
New attacks by Israel in Lebanon this Sunday (29) left at least 77 people dead in different regions of the country. Later in the afternoon, the Israelis also announced a bombing of Houthi paramilitary group facilities in a port in Yemen.
Cities in the south and northeast of the country were hit, says Lebanon’s Ministry of Health. One of the bombings hit Sidon, the main city in the south, where 24 people died and another 29 were injured. In Baalbek-Hermel there were 21 deaths and 47 injuries. In Ain al-Delb, 32 died and 53 were injured, the organization said on the social network X.
In Yemen, the targets were the Houthis — a group allied with Hezbollah, Iran and Hamas in regional conflicts. “Power plants and a seaport used to import oil were hit, which were used by the Houthis to transfer Iranian weapons to the region, as well as military supplies and oil,” the Israel Defense Forces statement said. There is still no information on civilian casualties.
