Trade war is not good for anyone, says Alckmin
Vice President Geraldo Alckmin expressed concerns about the effects of protectionism on global trade relations and stressed the need to promote multilateralism in commerce. On the other hand, it assessed that Brazil can favor the current scenario. “Commercial war, protectionism are not good for anyone. The ideal is always to promote multilateralism and free trade with clear rules,” said on Sunday, 27, at Agrishow, Ribeirão Preto (SP),.
Alckmin pointed out that, in the case of Brazil, the agreement with the European Union is an important step in this regard. “This agreement will open more opportunities for Brazilian agribusiness. Agro can benefit further with exports,” he said, stressing that the reduction of commercial barriers will provide a more favorable environment for agricultural growth.
With the strengthening of the foreign market, Alckmin also spoke about the financial conditions so that Brazil can take advantage of these opportunities, mentioning the fundamental role of BNDES. “A very good export line has been created, with dollar financing – which is much cheaper. But for that, who exports needs to be ‘hedgeted’, ie protected against currency devaluation risks,” he concluded.
