Trump against Erika Hilton and Duda Salabert fosters violence to trans
This kind of prejudiced Uncle Sam behavior ends up empowering those who, in Brazil, attack trans.
It is worth remembering that, on International Women’s Day of 2023, Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG) climbed the pulpit of the House of Representative plenary, using a blonde wig, calling itself as “Nicole” and attacking the rights of the trans population. This inaugurated a series of demonstrations against this group by the far right. Hate ran through the nets. A councilwoman from Belo Horizonte said in a speech that trans “not welcome” people to the mining capital.
And it was no wonder. The theme of the rights of the trans population is instrumentalized by certain politicians as a threat to its ultra -conservative electorate in Brazil and the United States. The more they attack, the more they get likes and shares of this group, ensuring their “reputation” and thus support.
Political, social or religious leaders say they never incite direct violence through their words and actions. However, your hands do not hold the knife or revolver, but it is the overlap of your arguments and your choice of words over time that distort your followers’ worldview and make the act of stabbing and shooting banal. Or, rather, “necessary”.
Its actions and rules slowly redefine what is ethical and aesthetically acceptable, a view that will later be consumed and practiced by third parties. They will believe they are doing the right one, almost on a civilizing or divine mission. Killing and dying for it.
