Trump chose to be related to Bolsonaro, not with the Brazilian people, says Lula

President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva stated, in an interview with US TV PBS, that US President Donald Trump made a choice to have a relationship with former President Jair Bolsonaro, not with the Brazilian people, and so there has never been a conversation between the two heads of state.

Lula also said that all the people Brazil sought to try to negotiate, after the imposition of 50% tariffs on Brazilian exports to the US, were answered that this was a political, non -commercial question.

In defending the lawsuit that sentenced Bolsonaro to 27 years in prison for attempted coup, Lula stated that the process was democratic and praised around the world.

“Therefore, President Trump cannot put a political issue on the table when we are dealing with heads of state,” he said.
