Trump criticizes European Union actions against Big Techs: ‘Ridiculous’
United States President Donald Trump criticized European Union processes against Big Techs such as Apple and Google. The speech was held during a press conference with the UK Prime Minister Keir Stmerer in the White House.
What happened
“Totally ridiculous,” Trump says about the European Union process against Apple. “They sued Apple, received $ 16 or 17 billion, which it was, I think, a totally ridiculous decision,” said the president. “They are processing Google for a lot of money. They are processing many other companies, and we don’t like the way they are treating our people, and we don’t like the way they are treating our companies.”
Apple lost billionaire process. At the end of the last year, Apple was convicted by the European Union Court of Justice (TJUE) to pay 13 billion euros (about $ 12.5 billion) to Ireland for benefiting from the country’s illegal aid between 1991 and 2014. In March 2024, the EU fined the company “abusing its dominant position in the music distribution market” to avoid similar dissemination of APPs in iOS devices.
