Trump deadline to Russia before sanctions 'is very long'

On Saturday, the US announced the application of 30% tariffs against European Union and Mexico. The decision is a shower of cold water in the hopes of Europeans, who negotiated for months with the White House an agreement that would avoid commercial barriers.

The EU expected to be able to limit rates to a 10%level. Brussels has already indicated that in the next 20 days it will continue to dialogue in search of an agreement – but criticized Trump’s decision.

Trump wants to reach an agreement on war

Trump stated that he was “very, very unhappy” with Russia and “disappointed” with President Vladimir Putin. “We will apply very severe rates if we do not reach an agreement in 50 days,” he threatened. The NATO head will remain in Washington until Tuesday and will also meet with Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

US President said possible rates against Russia are secondary and will be 100%. He repeated that the Ukraine invasion of Russia would not have happened if he were president in 2022.

Trump also said that Ukrainians “continue to fight tremendous courage,” but are losing equipment. Therefore, he promised that billions of dollars in military equipment will be sent to Ukraine in a closed trade agreement between the two countries. “We made an agreement today when we will send weapons and they (Ukraine) will pay for them,” he said.
