Trump says he will end ‘transgender madness’
According to the New York Times, the speech was received by the public with applause and shouts of approval. The newspaper called Trump’s 90-minute speech “the usual mix of false claims, self-congratulations and fierce attacks on opponents.”
The WHO considers that gender are social constructions, which vary from society to society and can change over time. “Gender interacts with, but is distinct from, sex, which refers to the different biological and physiological characteristics of women, men, and intersex people.”
Panama reacts to Trump
The president of Panama, José Raúl Mulino, reacted after threats made by Donald Trump to regain control of the Panama Canal. “The channel does not have direct or indirect control (…) of any power. As a Panamanian, I strongly repudiate any demonstration that distorts this reality,” said Mulino, in a video on the social network X, without mentioning Trump.
On Saturday, Trump threatened to demand the return of the Panama Canal to the US “in its entirety and without question” if Panama is unable to ensure “safe, efficient and reliable operation.” He also said he would not let the canal “fall into the wrong hands” and that the crossing should not be managed by China. Almost 5% of world maritime trade passes through the Panama Canal.
The road was built by the United States in the first decades of the last century and was under American control until its complete transfer in 1999, 22 years after the signing of the Panama return treaty by President Jimmy Carter in 1977.
