Trump troops in Chicago would be invasion, says governor of Illinois
Pritzker believes that interventions in cities, already implemented in Washington and Los Angeles, are related to the elections in 2026. “Now he can disagree with a state that has not voted for him. But should he send troops? No,” he said.
Yesterday, Trump again threatened to intervene in Chicago. “Six people were killed and 24 were shot in Chicago last weekend, and JB Pritzker, Illinois’ weak and pathetic governor, has just said that he doesn’t need help to prevent crime. He’s crazy !!! It is better to solve it fast, or let’s end it!”
Mayor of Chicago challenges Trump
The mayor of Chicago forbade yesterday the Municipal Police to collaborate with federal authorities eventually sent by Trump. Decree published by Brandon Johnson prevents collaboration in the event of immigration civil inspection or any related patrols, traffic stops and control stations. Johnson is from the Democratic Party.
“I do not receive orders from the federal government,” the mayor told a press conference. Johnson also stated that Trump behaves outside the limits of the Constitution.
“He is reckless and uncontrolled,” said Johnson. “He is the biggest threat to our democracy we have ever faced in the history of our country,” he added.
