Trump’s future ambassador in Argentina says he will support Malei in the elections
Peter Lamelas, future ambassador of the United States in Argentina, said he will support Javier Milei in the next elections. He also said he will work to ensure that former President Cristina Kirchner “receives the justice she deserves.”
What happened
Lamelas, appointed by Donald Trump, intends to increase US investments in Argentina. According to him, the mission is to strengthen the bilateral relationship, seeking a free trade agreement between the two countries.
With this, he expects to reduce, more and more, the influence of China in Argentina. Lamelas expressed that one of the “challenges” in the South American country is that each of the 23 governors can make agreements with China, which he claims he could facilitate corruption.
