Trump's store launches “Trump 2028” cap and raises speculation about third term

Trump Organization began selling caps with the inscription “Trump 2028”, rekindling discussions about the possibility of Donald Trump trying to compete for a third term. Although this is prohibited by the United States Constitution, Trump has previously expressed interest in the idea, but recently stated that he intends to fulfill this mandate “and then leave.”

Trump Organization’s online store has launched the new product line, which includes $ 50 caps promoted on social networks. Eric Trump, the former president’s son, posted a photo using the cap on his Instagram story.

The launch may only be a provocation to Trump’s opponents. Eric Trump’s post also seemed to mock the questions asked by the media after the disclosure of the product.

Constitutionally, Donald Trump cannot be elected for a third term. However, he has commented on the subject several times. Just 69 days after the beginning of her second term, Trump told host Kristen Welker of the Meet The Press program that “many people” want him to serve for a third term, adding that “she was not kidding” about the possibility.

The 22nd Amendment of the Constitution clearly establishes the limit of two mandates for presidents, stating that “no person will be elected to the position of president more than twice.” Some people suggested the hypothesis of Trump to run as vice president alongside JD Vance or other candidate, who would resign after the inauguration, but the 12th amendment prohibits this by stating that “no constitutionally ineligible person for the position of president will be eligible for the position of vice president of the United States.”

Despite these restrictions, Trump told Welker that “there are methods” to get a third term. However, he seemed to be back from this idea in a recent interview with Time magazine, stating: “I’ll serve a mandate, I’ll do a great job … and then I’m leaving.”
