TSE: Ferreira votes to revoke Cláudio Castro’s mandate; score is 2×0
Minister Antonio Carlos Ferreira, of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) voted to convict the governor of Rio de Janeiro, Cláudio Castro (PL), for abuse of political and economic power in the 2022 elections.
If convicted, Castro will have his mandate revoked and will be ineligible until 2030. Ferreira accompanied the rapporteur, Isabel Gallotti, and formed a 2-0 score against the governor.

According to the accusation, the Ceperj Foundation (State Center for Statistics, Research and Training of Public Servants) and the State University of Rio de Janeiro (Uerj) were used to hire electoral campaigners with resources from the state government during the campaign.
The process brings together two appeals from the Public Electoral Ministry (MPE) against the decision of the Regional Electoral Court of Rio (TRE-RJ) that acquitted Castro and the other accused by 4 votes to 3, in 2024.
