Ukraine commander states that NATO is not prepared for drone wars
Speaking of a newly overwhelmed office for the newly founded non-manned system forces, whose location Reuters was asked not to disclose, Sukharevskyi exposed the jumps and limits in which the drone war has advanced since the invasion in 2022 and the ways in which it overthrew established war doctrines.
“From what I see and hear, not a single NATO army is ready to resist the drone waterfall,” Sukharevskyi told Reuters in a recent interview.
He said NATO should recognize the economic advantage of drones, which usually cost much less to be built than the conventional weaponry needed to overthrow them.
“How much does a missile that slas a shaved (drone) (Russian) and how much does it cost to send a ship, an airplane and an air defense system to shoot it?”
Long -range drones can cost only a few thousand dollars for the most basic gimmick models, although Shahed attack drones have been estimated to tens thousands. Air defense intercepting missiles usually cost six or seven digits of US dollars and many countries maintain only limited stocks, making their use highly anti-economic.
Sukharevskyi’s comments take place at the moment some NATO members in Europe increase defense spending to prepare for war if the Ukraine conflict is dragged or increasing. With US support to Ukraine and Europe, these efforts intensified.
