Ukraine uses long-range missiles against Russia
The Ukrainian government had earlier claimed to have carried out an attack on a Russian arsenal near the city of Karachev, 110 kilometers from the border. According to two Ukrainian press outlets, the attack used missiles from the American ATACMS long-range system, released for use against Russian territory by Joe Biden on Sunday.
On Monday, the Russian government said that the use of weapons against its territory would be considered NATO aggression and that it would respond in a “concrete” way. Today, Putin signed the new Russian nuclear doctrine, which expands the range of situations in which the country’s atomic arsenal can be activated.
G20 signs Lula’s proposals
Brazil achieved consensus among G20 countries for the theses defended by the Lula government at the group’s summit meeting in Rio.
The text of the final declaration defends the taxation of the super-rich and measures against poverty, calls for reform of the UN Security Council, supports rights for minorities and a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, in addition to reiterating the commitment to combat climate change. The document also calls for an end to wars, without an explicit condemnation of Russia in the war in Ukraine – a position in line with that of Brazilian diplomacy.
The declaration is written on behalf of all leaders present in Rio, including Javier Milei. The president of Argentina, however, declared that the country will not adopt some of the points in the document.Alliance against hunger
