US policy is not convenient to anywhere in the world, says Lula

President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said on Tuesday (22) that the international trade policy adopted by the United States is neither good for Americans nor “nowhere in the world.”

Lula also defended, in statements when he arrived at Itamaraty for a lunch with Chile’s president, Gabriel Boric, the importance of multilateralism and the need to sit at the table to negotiate “as hard as it may be.”

Lula’s statements take place in a scenario where US President Donald Trump has been imposing import rates on other countries, including Brazil and especially on China.

Shortly before, at Planalto Palace, Lula said he does not want Brazil to be involved in a new cold war and have to choose between the United States or China.

Lula had also said that Brazil has to assume the role of inductor given its importance and size in Latin America.
