The Lula government has placed Cade (Administrative Council for Economic Defense) at the center of what will be the future monitoring of the actions of large technology companies, the so-called big tech, if bill 4675/25 is approved in the National Congress.

In an interview with TILTthe podcast of Facto News for the humans behind the machines, Cade advisor Victor Oliveira Fernandes stated that, before starting to monitor big techs closely, the council will discuss with the companies themselves which obligations make the most sense to be applied.

(The bill) followed a more nuanced, more flexible model, which has a greater relationship with, for example, the English model or the German model itself. And, in this model, Cade will have the possibility to sit down with companies and define for each economic group, eventually designated, an obligation regime that makes sense for the reality of that company.

Brazil has three objectives to monitor big techs, says Cade advisor

Bill 4675/2025 could change the rules of the game for technology giants in Brazil. In the new episode of TILTthe Facto News podcast for the humans behind the machines, Victor Oliveira Fernandes, advisor to Cade (Administrative Council for Economic Defense), spoke with Helton Simões Gomes and Diogo Cortiz and detailed the three central objectives of the proposal and its possible impacts for consumers and entrepreneurs.

The text, which is being processed in the National Congress, seeks to reduce entry barriers, protect competition and guarantee users’ freedom of choice. The idea is to strengthen Cade’s role, giving the body more power to monitor and punish anti-competitive practices.
