US senators reach agreement to end budget impasse
The measure is scheduled for a procedural vote in the Senate on Sunday night.
After passing through the Senate, the project will need to be approved by the House of Representatives, where the Republican majority is very narrow, before it can be promulgated by Trump.
According to lawmakers, the bill should restore funding for the Federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (Snap), which helps more than 42 million low-income Americans pay for their food.
In addition, the agreement should also reverse Trump’s layoffs of thousands of federal workers last month and ensure a vote to extend health care subsidies that expire at the end of this year.
