USA condemn attack on the Palestinian Church in West Bank

The Israeli government did not comment on the incident, but had already denounced such acts earlier.

On Tuesday, Huckabe said he had asked Israel to “aggressively investigate” the murder of a Palestinian American beaten by settlers in the West Bank, describing him in the same way as a “criminal and terrorist act.”

Huckabe is a firm defender of Israeli settlements and his comments are a rare and incisive public intervention by the US President Donald Trump’s government.

In January, Trump terminated the sanctions imposed by the former Biden government to groups of Israeli settlers and individuals accused of involvement in Palestinian violence in the West Bank.

The attacks of settlers against Palestinians and the attacks of Palestinians against Israeli in the West Bank have increased since the beginning of the Israeli War against the Hamas Militant Group in Gaza in October 2023.

The highest court of the United Nations (UN) said last year that Israel’s settlements in the 1967 war captured in the Middle East, including the West Bank, are illegal.
