USA: Judge releases deportation of pro-Palestinian protest leader at university
An American judge determined on Friday that Mahmoud Khalil, a leader of the Prose Student Protests detained by the Donald Trump government, could be deported, local press and a civil rights organization said.
Khalil, a student at Columbia University and one of the most prominent faces of the protest movement that broke out last year against the Israel War in Gaza, was arrested and transferred to Louisiana in March. He has a permanent legal residence in the United States and is married to an American citizen.
Trump accuses this student movement of anti -Semitism, while defenders of civil freedoms claim that their detention, like other students, is a violation of freedom of expression.
