Venezuela announces capture of group of alleged ‘mercenaries’ linked to the CIA
Caracas denounced “the military provocation of Trinidad and Tobago, in coordination with the CIA, to provoke a war in the Caribbean.” They stated that the movement “is not about defense exercises, but rather a colonial operation of military aggression that seeks to convert the Caribbean into a space for lethal violence and US imperial rule.”
The Venezuelan government has brought charges against the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Kamla Persad-Bissessar. For Caracas, Kamla renounced her country’s sovereignty to align with the United States, which turns “her territory into an American aircraft carrier for the war throughout the Caribbean against Venezuela, Colombia and all of South America”, according to the statement released by Venezuelan Vice President, Delcy Rodríguez.
Note also says that “treason” by Trinidad and Tobago caused the deaths of innocent local fishermen in the Caribbean Sea. The Trump administration has carried out attacks on vessels believed to be loaded with drugs in the Caribbean and the Pacific.
Venezuela does not accept threats from any US vassal government. We are not intimidated by military exercises or war cries. Our Armed Forces will remain alert and mobilized in perfect unity in the face of this very serious provocation. Our Republic, heir to Bolívar and Cháves, will always defend its sovereignty, its territorial integrity and its right to live in peace against foreign enemies and their vassals.
