Venezuelan MP files lawsuit against Maduro’s opponent ‘betrayal of the country’
The announcement of the investigation was made on the Instagram of Attorney General Tarek William Saab, linked to the Venezuelan dictator. “The public statements that the aforementioned made regarding this irritating bill seriously involve her and constitute the commission of the crimes of treason, conspiracy with a foreign country and criminal association”, says the statement.
Venezuelan elections
In July, the attorney general announced the opening of an investigation against María Corina and other opponents for alleged interference in the elections. On that occasion, he mentions the opposition leader, Lester Toledo and Leopoldo López.
The three would be “mainly responsible”. “Therefore, prosecutors are bringing together all the elements to advance this investigation into the attempt to paralyze and tamper with the electoral results.”
That month, Nicolás Maduro was proclaimed president of Venezuela amid international protests. To this day, the Brazilian government has not recognized the Venezuelan victory. Last month, Brazil vetoed Venezuela’s entry into the BRICS.
