Mayor says Americans are a priority. Mayor Francesco Columbu told CNN that he will facilitate the entry of United States citizens. “We cannot, of course, prohibit people from other countries from registering, but Americans will have an accelerated procedure,” he said.
Trump’s election may attract interested parties. The mayor also said that he “cannot mention” the name of a US president who has just been elected”, but that “we all know that he is the one many Americans want to move away from now and leave the country”.
Village seeks repopulation
Vila even offers free houses. According to the mayor, the village offers three types of accommodation: There are free temporary houses for digital nomads, 1 euro houses that need renovation, and houses ready to move in, for prices up to 100 thousand euros.
Population has shrunk in recent years. According to CNN, in the last century, the population of Ollolai fell from 2,250 to 1,300 people and many families left the place in search of work.
