The Vatican today closed the Sistine Chapel for the preparations. Visitors who managed to enter until yesterday considered themselves lucky, as there is no way of knowing how long the conclave will last and, consequently, the period when the place will be without visitation.
The two previous conclaves, held in 2005 and 2013, lasted only two days. About 135 cardinals, all under 80 and from around the world, are able to participate in the conclave and decide who will be the next leader of the church, which has 1.4 billion members.
